*Clovis* marks Charley’s fourth full-length LP of original music within just a 16-month span and remarkably his 17th studio album since his 2015 debut, *A Stolen Jewel*. Co-produced by Charley and his creative kindred spirit, GRAMMY® Award-winning producer Shooter Jennings, the bulk of the album was written and recorded with Charley’s band The Blue Drifters in Clovis, New Mexico, at the iconic Norman Petty studios, a national landmark where legendary artists like Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison, Waylon Jennings, and more had recorded some of their biggest hits in the 1950’s.

Charley informed fans of the album’s imminent release via his socials earlier this week, writing:

Among the various standouts on *Clovis*, “Country Music” swings from homegrown street-corner storytelling towards a scathing diatribe of industry culture. Pulling no punches, he laments, “Work like a dog, live like a horse thief, break your momma’s heart, then wash it all anew. They call that country music. It’s a feeling. Lean into it.” Tasty fretwork gives the tune even more teeth. Elsewhere, slick finger-picking sets the tone for “Image Of A Woman.” Organ echoes, keys resound, and Charley wonders aloud, “Said she loved me in the town of Clovis working on her daddy’s ranch. I still don’t know why she asked me to dance.” The finale “Waylon Rides Again” embodies the outlaw spirit at the heart of this body of work. Loose electric guitar locks into a call-and-response with his mantra-like chant, “Waylon, Waylon rides again.”

Charley celebrated the arrival of *Clovis* with his fans by performing the album in its entirety during a special release show at the Old Saloon in Emigrant, Montana this past Wednesday. Surprise announcing it the night before, the show completely sold out in just 2-½ hours. Charley already has more tricks up his sleeve and will continue to be on the road for the majority of 2026, with headline dates coast-to-coast throughout summer and fall.
