Sarah Maison Releases Defiant New Single "Exister"

So begins “Exister”, the electrifying new single from French alternative pop singer-songwriter Sarah Maison — and one of the boldest, most visceral tracks from her upcoming debut album.
Fierce and unflinching, “Exister” pulses with gritty guitars, shifting rhythms, and a dreamlike urgency. It unfolds like a psychedelic gallop through a crumbling world — equal parts sonic protest and surrealist vision. Think: Jodorowsky’s El Topo meets Al Massrieen’s grooves, sharpened by the biting guitar work of The Kinks.
"Like an oak tree in the city, I stand."

Rooted in Sarah’s poetic imagination, the track channels the stoicism of nature in the face of chaos. “Exister is an ode to nature and a reflection on the absurdity of existence under neoliberalism,” Sarah explains. “We work more to earn more, we buy things we don’t need — endless demands that pull us away from our essence. Meanwhile, trees are allowed to just be. No one judges them when they’re bare in winter. They change, and we accept it. Why can’t we?”
Recorded by Steve Surmely at Studio Pipo, and fully written, composed, and arranged by Sarah herself, “Exister” continues the poetic and political lineage of her breakout debut single Western Arabisant — a fearless fusion of vision and voice.
Catch Sarah Maison live at La Boule Noire (Paris) on November 17, 2025.
Sarah Maison, "Exister":
About
Born in the south of France and now based in Paris, Sarah Maison is a singular force in the French pop underground. A graduate of the esteemed Villa Arson School of Art in Nice, she first explored abstraction in visual art before fully embracing music as her medium of choice.
With 2016’s Western Arabisant, she introduced a unique blend of folk, electro, and North African influences — rooted in her mixed heritage (Amazigh mother, father from Cantal). Her lyrics, both poetic and playful, unfold over lush soundscapes that have evolved from stripped-down minimalism to rich, cinematic arrangements.
Following two critically acclaimed EPs — Sarah Maison (2018) and Soleils (2021) — and a string of captivating live shows, Maison is now preparing for her debut full-length album, set for release in 2025. On stage, in collaboration with director Nissim Tretiakov, Sarah’s performances are part concert, part ritual — balancing grandeur and intimacy, humour and heartbreak, with a style all her own.
