Whitney Whitney Arrives With Cinematic Debut EP 1.1

Rising singer-songwriter Whitney Whitney showcases her inventive and inimitable approach to pop with her cinematic debut EP, 1.1, out today via Atlantic Records HERE. “Writing this EP was one of the most fun and rewarding things I’ve ever done,” says Whitney Whitney. “It's like a dance of every emotion felt together. That’s what I love about this project,” she shares. “It’s so many things at once that all mean so much to me."
The first in a series of musical “worlds” slated to arrive throughout the year, 1.1 includes the new single, “Touching You,” available now alongside an official visualizer streaming on YouTube HERE.
“‘Touching You’ is a song about falling in love again. And it’s funny, I wrote it when I was in a place nowhere near to being in love with anyone. So single actually. But I wanted to channel what it must feel like. I think art is play, and this song is about no one—just me playing with what I imagined letting myself fall in love again would feel like.”
Similar to the rush of writing freehand in a fit of inspiration, Whitney Whitney spills intimate thoughts, bare emotions, and unapologetic truths onto an organic pop canvas, twisting her unrestrained poetry throughout an orchestral sonic rollercoaster. Growing up between Connecticut and Manhattan, the Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter developed a creative foundation built upon a love for Elton John, Fiona Apple, Regina Spektor, 80s pop, classical string arrangements, and more. Between filling notebooks with ideas and poems, Whitney honed her voice through musical theater, cultivating a confident and charismatic presence. She quietly made waves with her original songs before teaming up with producer Justin Lucas (known for his work with Khalid, Alec Benjamin, and Daniel Caesar), writing and recording numerous demos.

Those tracks soon led to Whitney’s signing with Atlantic Records and the recent arrival of 1.1’s poetic first single, “Does The Narcissist Need A Kiss,” available everywhere now HERE. The emotive track was met by praise from outlets such as Ones To Watch, which raved, “Warm and roaming, the piano flows freely, while Whitney’s vocals – left untouched by the echoes of reverb – sit so close to the listener, that it feels like a private performance.”
Now, with the arrival of 1.1 – and more vivid, surprising “worlds” to come – Whitney Whitney brings her expansive and engaging pop vision to life, following her own creative path without compromise.
