Gaining traction as a group to watch in 2026, Montreal-based duo Brothel in Belize excitedly unveil their highly anticipated album, Machine Machine, out today via Atlantic Records. Listen to Machine Machine here.

This body of work unfolds as a 12-track trip into a digitized ether where longing, love, obsession, sadness, and ecstasy co-mingle on the darkest dancefloor you could ever imagine. The pair’s gothic house spirit absorbs elements of chiptune, progressive, and cyberpunk, alchemizing emotion into electronic music with blood pumping through its veins. The latest single and title track, “Machine Machine,” seamlessly embodies this energy. Glitchy electronics glimmer in the foreground as distant vocal transmissions echo, “Somewhere, you could see it. A lost connection.” The sound dissolves into a gentle haze.

Earlier this month, they teased the record with “Obsession” (listen/watch here). Prior, they dropped "Lovers by Chance" and "Ephemeral," both of which have generated significant momentum online. User-generated content featuring the tracks has surpassed 6 million combined TikTok views, introducing the duo's immersive sound to a rapidly expanding audience ahead of the album's release.

Now, Machine Machine is Brothel in Belize's most ambitious project to date - a boundary-pushing collection that expands upon the duo's distinctive blend of dark electronic music, cyberpunk aesthetics, analog synth experimentation, and emotionally charged songwriting.

About

Forged from the collision of sound, performance, and raw intensity, Brothel in Belize turn noise into something cinematic, visceral, and strangely hypnotic. The Montreal-based duo—Anita and Ethan—saturate handcrafted cinematic soundscapes with elements of dark electronic, cyberpunk, chiptune, progressive, and alternative, conjured from analog synths and spiked with full-body vocal exorcisms. Blurred with buzzing distortion and chaotic humming, their music resembles an overexposed photo, beckoning your full attention as you decipher its details and define its contours in your mind. Anita and Ethan literally met in Belize during respective family vacations. As “the youngest people there,” they struck up a discussion in the lobby, geeked out over favorites like Crystal Castles, and even shared playlists. The conversation continued on Instagram as Anita returned to Toronto and Ethan went back to Vancouver. They collaborated remotely, planting the seeds for Brothel in Belize. The first time they reconnected in person would be their debut tour in 2025. Gaining steam, they quietly emerged as a phenomenon. Among many highlights, “Envy” reeled in 6.5 million Spotify streams followed by "Electronica" with 2.1 million Spotify streams. They delivered the staple “Virgin Suicides” and an inventive “Rebuild” of “Kept” by Crystal Castles. Moreover, “The group’s 2025 project, War, reacted with listeners right out of the gate. After amassing tens of millions of streams and attracting an ardent audience, the group unleash their 2026 full-length album, Machine Machine [Atlantic Records].
