Trumpeter Michael Sarian jẹ ọkunrin ti ọpọlọpọ awọn aaye jazz, lati awọn Kennedy Center si awọn Blue Note, si awọn Montreux Jazz Festival. O jẹ olugbe olugbe ati awọn improvisation ti o ni ọpọlọpọ awọn gbigbe lori 577Records, awọn gbigbe pẹlu Olec Mün lori awọn aaye piano ati kafe, ati pẹlu awọn quartet rẹ lori ears&eyes ati Shifting Paradigm Records. On his latest, Esquina, the Toronto-born, Buenos Aires-raised, and NYC-based musician leads his quartet through more than fifty-five minutes of riveting, corner-turning jazz exploration that will delight fans of Miles Davis’ electric period and Jeff Parker’s ETA IVtet alike.

O ti wa ni pataki pataki – – paapa ti awọn music pataki – jẹ pe Sarian ti wa ni ṣiṣẹ nibi pẹlu awọn oniwe-ẹrọ ti o ti ṣiṣẹ pẹlu lori awọn oniwe-ẹrọ miiran lori awọn oniwe-ẹrọ miiran. Awọn iwe-ẹrọ wọnyi ti wa ni diẹ sii tabi diẹ ẹ sii awọn ọna ti kamẹra jazz, ni ilọsiwaju akustiki, ti o wa pẹlu awọn ọpọlọpọ ti o dara ati ki o tẹsiwaju melodies, ati awọn ipilẹ si awọn olumulo bi ECM veteran Kenny Wheeler. Esquina, sibẹsibẹ, ni a iyanu ati ki o daradara ti o ṣe si awọn pulsing jazz fusion, ti a npe ni awọn iyanu, Jon Hassell-esque process

Born of Sarian's need to challenge himself and his collaborators, the music that comprises Esquina was recorded with little to no rehearsals and follows graphic scores that were formed out of drawings and sketches that Sarian made during downtime while on a four-month stadium tour as a pop band sideman. Ni ko si kekere iye, ki o si, Esquina le wa ni lati gbe bi a iru ofurufu iṣẹ. Ti o ba wa ni ilọsiwaju, intuitively, tabi nibikibi laarin, Sarian siwaju si awọn ọdun wọnyi ti mainstream pop music ati a rigid tour schedule pẹlu igbeyewo, adventure, and play. And to no small extent, he responded to the stability he had built himself through playing with Nathan Ellman-Bell

As an artist, Michael Sarian is anything but stationary. He’s on the move, spiritedly drawing and following his own path. And Esquina is a corner turned.

Lori awọn ọna, Sarian wí pé: "Mo ti wa ni gbajumo lati mu Portishead's Glory Box – Mo ti wa ni ọmọ, nigba ti o ti kọ, ati ki o si jẹ ọkan ninu awọn ọna pop culture, bẹrẹ ni gbogbo TV ati awọn fọto, ati awọn ti o ti wa ni nigbagbogbo pẹlu mi.
