Alt-Electronic Artist King Kaye Transcends Consciousness On New Single “Enlighten Me”

Today, rising alt-electronic artist King Kaye has released his new single “Enlighten Me.”  The track is entirely self-produced, written and recorded, alongside Alex Poeppel (Roger Waters, Lil Nas X, Telescreens) who mixed and mastered the song at Kensaltown East NYC. Starting off as a poem reflecting hours of research on overcoming hardships, the anthem serves as an affirmation to enter a higher state of being. Using the contrasting low frequencies of ground shaking bass and the highest screams of synthesizers, King Kaye uses the abrupt change mid-track to symbolize entering a state of divine awareness and cosmic understanding after being lost for so long.

King Kaye also shares the accompanying visual, taking inspiration from Tarot’s Major Arcana cards. In the final shot (see above), the songsmith takes his place as The Magician, which represents the potential for success and the need to tap into one's resources and talents. Behind him stands the Shadow Self (the hidden and repressed aspects of one's personality that may not be consciously acknowledged) posed as The Hermit, a sign of seeking inner truth and wisdom.

“I wanted ‘Enlighten Me’ to be an introduction to the themes and methods I discovered searching for an enlightened state,” King Kaye shares about the release. “We tend to be in our most enlightened state when we express our innate feelings without any outside influence. When this melody was created, I didn’t even use words. I wanted to give the listener a feeling rather than just lyrics. That feeling is HOLY AS F*CK.”

New York native King Kaye creates genre-blending music using loud synths and ethereal words. A natural born musician, he started spinning records as a DJ at just 9 years old and began making his own instrumentals at age 12. In 2020, he released his quarantine project Nothing But A Pipe Dream featuring “AS THE SUN FALLS,” whose music video premiered at his hometown movie theatre. In 2023, he released The Status Quo featuring the self-produced, recorded, and engineered single “ARE YOU EVEN LISTENING?” which went on to receive airplay on 90.7FM WFUV. Bringing his talents to the stage, King Kaye has already captivated local audiences at The Bowery Electric, Ki Smith Gallery and Baker Falls.
