Dressed Like Boys Unveils New Single ‘Lies’
Jelle Denturck is the frontman of Belgian indie band DIRK., making a fair amount of noise and scoring numerous alternative hits in their home country and The Netherlands. Dressed Like Boys is his first solo project, and the result of a time when Denturck felt a bit stuck in life. From his time of self-reflection, and his self-acceptance of being a gay man.
With a delicate beauty like ‘Lies’, surely it’s going to be a big year for Dressed Like Boys. As heavy as the topic of addiction may be, with its delightful violin intro and magnificent chorus, ‘Lies’ is marvelous indie pop, as instantly recognizable as Wilco's Jesus, Etc.
“‘Lies’ is about addiction.” Jelle explains. “I put myself in the shoes of a friend of mine who is addicted but doesn't want to see it. And I created an antagonist (the ‘she’ in the song) confronting him with it.”
‘Lies’ is the fourth single taken from the self-titled debitē album, which is out on 29 August.
