Editorial Standards & Publishing Principles
Effective June 1, 2025
MusicWire exists to amplify music news with accuracy, transparency, and integrity. These principles guide every press release we review, edit, and distribute.
1. Mission & Scope
Our mission is to provide artists, labels, managers, and PR professionals with a trusted channel that delivers clear, factual music announcements to media and fans worldwide.
2. Accuracy
We verify factual statements, spellings, dates, and credits before publication. Releases containing unverifiable claims or misleading language are returned for clarification or declined.
3. Sourcing & Documentation
All statistics, chart positions, certifications, and quotes must be attributable to a reliable source (e.g., chart provider, label statement, official social post). Unsupported superlatives are removed.
4. Independence & Transparency
MusicWire does not accept editorial influence from advertisers, sponsors, or business partners. If a press release involves paid content (e.g., sponsored brand partnership), that context is disclosed within the copy.
5. Conflicts of Interest
Editors must disclose personal or financial ties to an artist, label, or stakeholder before working on a release. If a conflict exists, a separate editor is assigned.
6. Review & Approval
Every submission is reviewed for clarity, compliance with our policies, and adherence to journalistic tone. We edit for grammar, AP‑style consistency, and proper formatting without altering the core facts or voice.
7. Corrections & Updates
If an error surfaces after publication, we correct it promptly and append a “Correction” note with the date and nature of the change. Significant post‑publication updates to release details are time‑stamped.
8. User‑Generated Content
Comments, quotes, or testimonials included in a press release must be authorized by the speaker. MusicWire does not host open comment sections, reducing the risk of unverified claims.
9. Continuous Improvement
We review these principles yearly to reflect changes in industry standards and audience expectations.
