Ethics Policy
Effective June 1, 2025
Integrity is the foundation of MusicWire’s reputation. This policy sets clear expectations for employees, contributors, and contractors.
1. Editorial Independence
MusicWire maintains a strict separation between editorial decisions and commercial considerations. Advertising, sponsorship, and partner programs do not influence review outcomes or distribution priorities.
2. Fact‑Checking
All staff must verify names, release dates, chart data, and quotations. Primary sources (artist management, official label statements, public filings) are prioritized over secondary reporting.
3. Attribution & Plagiarism
We credit original sources for statistics, lyrics, or quotations. Copying or closely paraphrasing without attribution is grounds for disciplinary action.
4. Gifts & Compensations
Editors may not accept gifts, cash, or “perks” valued over USD 50 from any company or individual connected to a press release. Free tickets or merch for coverage are prohibited.
5. Sponsored Content
Paid placements or brand collaborations must be clearly labeled “Sponsored” within the press release body.
6. Privacy & Data
Personal data collected from clients or journalists is used strictly for service delivery, in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
7. AI & Automation
MusicWire may use AI tools for grammar or style suggestions but never to generate original facts or unsourced content. Human editors make final decisions.
8. Corrections
We publish corrections promptly, with transparency about the error and the fix.
