UK jazztronica pioneer Kinzoogianna (aka Anna Stubbs) returns with ‘Queendom of Sound (I Love Music)’, the bold new single from her second solo album ‘The Clique of ’86’, out September 12 on Brotherly Music.A heady blend of jazz, hip-hop, and rich orchestration, ‘Queendom of Sound’ takes the spirit of Hale Smith’s ‘I Love Music’ and spins it into a Badu-meets-Bassey tour de force. From drum programming to flute solos and gospel-infused string arrangements, Kinzoogianna channels her full creative arsenal — with long-time collaborator Rob Mullarkey (Jacob Collier, Jordan Rakei) on bass and mixing duties.

“The kings of the keys kneel down to my digit queens,” she declares, in an anthem to the love of music and feminine musical power.About the Album: ‘The Clique of ’86’Out September 12, ‘The Clique of ’86’ is an autobiographical concept album — a vibrant cast of mid-80s Essex characters brought to life through a fusion of jazz-funk, broken beat, Afrobeat, and early electro. Think Ahmad Jamal meets Nas, Body Popping meets Synth Bass, defiance meets soul.

The focus track, ‘Mind Your Business (Stubbsy’s Lament)’, is a defiant, funky bruk anthem with jazz piano, quirky drum programming and sweeping strings — a teenage rant turned jazz-dance floor heater.

“This tune is the voice of my most defiant self — Stubbsy — and her lament against society and authority,” says Anna. “People need autonomy, not control. Mistakes and mis-timed tries take time to become wise.”
