Mike Rufo Releases "Some Will Fly": A Soulful Folk-Reggae Journey of Life and Renewal

Mike Rufo is a singer-songwriter and guitarist from the San Francisco Bay Area. Mike’s music builds upon powerful lyrics, soaring vocals, and melodic riffs to explore emotional depths and transformation. From poignant to powerful, from rockin’ to refined, he will take you on a journey of the heart, body, and mind.
Mike’s songs have been featured on dozens of radio programs throughout the country and he has played with leading artists, including 2016 NPR Tiny Desk Winner Gaelynn Lea, at venues throughout the US and abroad.
Rufo’s upcoming album, living is, will be his fourth and features Brady Blade on drums (Lucinda Williams, Indigo Girls, Emmylou Harris, Steve Earle, Dave Mathews), Ben Andrews (Hot Buttered Rum, Tracorum) on violin, and Sarah Larkin (The Real Sarahs) and Megan Slankard on backing vocals.
Some Will Fly, the sixth single for the album, is a comforting folk reggae song with a catchy chorus that was forged in a crucible of grief and a cataclysm of renewal. Every day and every night the cycle of life goes on and on, often unnoticed, until it’s right there in front of you. At birth and death, we fly, we cry. In the beginning and in the end, what do we need, what do we feel?
