The song was originally conceived when Tofa was asked by his brother to compose a piece for his niece's graduation, leading him to craft a moving narrative from a father’s point of view.

Born in American Samoa and raised between Hawaii, California, and Florida, his music is infused with the rich storytelling traditions of his Polynesian heritage. A versatile multi-instrumentalist, Tofa began his career in his family's celebrated Polynesian production group, performing for years at SeaWorld Florida and touring internationally.
