Wells Ferrari Releases Sophomore EP Wasted Time Via Atlantic Records

Introspective indie-folk duo Wells Ferrari have released their sophomore EP Wasted Time via Atlantic Records HERE. The seven-track collection weaves heartfelt storytelling with raw acoustic soul and a modern Americana edge. With roots steeped in the songcraft tradition of bands like The Eagles, The Allman Brothers Band, and The Head and The Heart, Wells Ferrari’s music simultaneously feels nostalgic and contemporary as their voices blend in undeniable harmonic bliss that’s strikingly personal to their artistic DNA.
Built on a close creative bond between best friends and singer-songwriters Will Wells and Mikey Ferrari, Wasted Time captures the intimate, soul-baring essence of their sound. With soaring harmonies, delicate guitar work, and lyrics that tug at the heart, the EP is a conversation in song form. Exploring themes of love, loss, fear, and hope, the duo broadens their sonic palette while staying grounded in deeply personal songwriting, resulting in a collection of songs that will resonate around a campfire or in an arena.
“‘Wasted Time is the continuation of our story and is defined by our experiences together,” said Wells Ferrari. “We’ve always wanted to build community with our music and write songs that help people feel seen because we really value finding the things that connect us all. We’ve loved making this music together and have enjoyed pushing each other to be vulnerable in our lyrics and choices. As we work toward our debut album, it’s exciting to know we will be able to tell the tales we want to tell and share even more of who we are. We look forward to continually expanding our community and hitting the road to connect in-person.”
Recorded during a weekend escape from Los Angeles to the dusty shadows of Joshua Tree National Park, the EP was produced in collaboration with Garrett Hall in a desolate destination dubbed “The Adobe.” The barren confines quickly became a beloved, creative clubhouse for Wells Ferrari, and the seven-song collection was born. Confessional, conversational, and pure, Wasted Time sheds all artifice of affectation and mines the pair’s collective stormy past as prologue to a hopeful future. Love found and lost, hardship, doubt, and triumph – personal choices that pull us away or lead us back are the bedrock of the Wells Ferrari narrative and ever-growing repertoire.
The title track opens the EP with hushed power, gradually unfolding from quiet reflection into a layered, Americana-tinged anthem while “Life After Death” blends gritty, raspy vocals with an infectious melody, and “Leave It That Way” offers a soulful, stripped-down sound showcasing the duo’s emotional range. “Bending” features delicate chords and intricate instrumentation, closing with a candid laugh that highlights the pair’s close-knit friendship and “Already Gone” taps into themes of nostalgia and longing, while the EP’s focus track, “Cloud of Rain,” reflects on resilience and generational pain. “Long Way Home” brings the EP to a sweeping close, beginning with richly layered harmonies that swell into a powerful finale that mirrors the emotional arc of the entire project.
Following a successful run supporting Evan Honer on his UK tour this past summer, the pair will join Yoke Lore and Matt Maeson on select U.S. tour dates this fall. Known for their emotionally resonant live shows, the duo brings the same stripped-down warmth and soul to the stage as they do to the studio, delivering performances that are not to be missed. About
Will Wells and Mikey Ferrari grew up on bay shores on opposite ends of this country, bobbing and weaving through various calamities and pitfalls of youth before being saved by music, each in his own way. Wells calls home Maryland’s Chesapeake Bay, while Ferrari hails from the Bay Area of California. Both left town as teens: Wells to Boston’s Berklee School of Music; Ferrari to the ranchland of Montana. Landing in Los Angeles at one point or another, they separately struggled to find any sense of musical or personal connection. In 2019 when the two met during a writing session for another artist, they recognized two things: one, that making music was the only thing either wanted to do, and two, that this new, other person was what each had been searching for to round out their artistic self. Some people call it kismet, others fate; they simply call it Wells Ferrari.
