The illustrious GLVES (pronounced Gloves), has shared her newest distinctive alt-pop electronica single ‘Echo’, and with it, her vulnerable side, with the world.

For those uninitiated, GLVES is a Magandjin-based Alt-Pop interdisciplinary artist, who uses cinematic Blaktronica with electronic textures, organic instrumentation, and ethereal vocal loops to unearth the untold stories close to her heart as a Kaurareg, Fijian woman.

Her boundary-pushing, elevated artistry has garnered accolades at the Queensland Music Awards, Best Cinematography in the 2021 Reels Music Video Awards, and Best Music Video at the 2022 Sydney Women’s International Film Festival. She’s also performed at major events like Splendour in the Grass, Ministry of Sound Classical, and Yabun to incredible reception.

‘Echo’ is the most recent culmination of GLVES’s boundary-breaking ways: a lament to the tune of liquid-smooth ambient electronica. Moody vocals guide the emotional journey of the song, the layering lending it a ghostly, reflective quality, and its catchy and dynamic hook paired with an existential tone. This synth-driven track has a dreamy openness, with an air-like quality that moves into beat-heavy storytelling that strikes a chord that’s both melancholy and catchy.

The heartfelt prose of 'Echo' is a testament to GLVES’s powerful storytelling. Offering a raw glimpse into her turbulent formative family life and the complex bonds forged, the song delves into the ripple effects of addiction. It explores how two people, shaped by the same difficult circumstances, can drift apart in the aftermath, 'Echo' is not just about her own transformation, but also the hope that her family will find their own path toward growth. GLVES shares:

"At its core, this song is about family—the echoes of love, pain, and memory that continue to shape us. It’s a journey toward understanding, healing, and ultimately finding peace in the ties that remain."
