Jonsjooel Releases Heartfelt New Single "Thank You" – Out February 28, 2025

Berlin-based Finnish artist Jonsjooel is set to release his latest single, "Thank You," on February 28, 2025, via Kieku Records. Known for his ability to craft evocative soundscapes that blend folk, jazz, and electronica, Jonsjooel’s new track serves as a deeply personal letter of gratitude to trees and the natural world. "Thank You" is more than a song—it’s a poetic meditation on the importance of respecting life in all its forms, particularly for those who cannot speak for themselves. Featuring intricate instrumentation and ethereal melodies, the track invites listeners to reflect on their connection with nature and their role within it.
"This song is about appreciation, about pausing to recognize the silent wisdom of trees and their role in shaping our lives. It’s about listening to what often goes unheard," says Jonsjooel.
Jonsjooel, whose critically praised EP Voices Of A First Day (2024) earned accolades from Louder Than War, Songwriting Magazine, and Subba-Cultcha, continues to push artistic boundaries with "Thank You." His debut album Lullabies for Younger Self (2023) was celebrated for its raw emotional depth, inspired by themes of grief, memory, and self-care following the loss of his grandmother. "Thank You" bridges these introspective themes with a wider call to honor and protect the environment. It aligns with Jonsjooel’s ongoing exploration of human connection to nature, which has been a consistent theme throughout his career.

In Finland, Kieku ja Kaiku is a popular cartoon from the 1950s, starring two chickens sowing mischief across their forrest land. Their names are onomatopoeias for the rooster’s crow—cock-a-doodle-doo, loud, brash, and eye-opening. Finland’s KIEKU RECORDS takes its name from these unofficial mascots, borrowing from childhood nostalgia but also carrying an important message. It’s time for the music industry to wake up.
